An Angel On One Shoulder, A Devil On The Other

What do we think?  What do we feel?  Do we ever ask ourselves where that might come from?  Logical progression within the realms of psychology and psychiatry say that it is definable and explainable.  Therapeutic and medicinal remedies are abound to that which we wonder is abnormal.  From a baseline of defined normality and along a scale of abnormality do the scientific and medical establishments bring understanding to the human population.

Within spiritual realms of theology, metaphysics, and occultism, humans do search for their own answers as well.  Gurus of age old and of today span our population.  Preachers, shamans, psychics, yogis, druids, witches, and magicians, even today, talk about concepts that lie on the other side of logical science based understanding of our own consciousness and the world around us.  No matter where you look, there is an answer, a path, a clinic, a spiritual group, a church, a book, a medication, a sacred herb, and a myriad of other sources of insight into ourselves, the world, and the unknown.

But concerning our own happiness, and the lengths to which we will pursue such an endeavor, what is at the most basic of qualities of this world to help lead us?  There is good, there is evil, and every level and subtlety in between.  From within our own day to day travels in our life, what answer could possibly give us the most truth?  What am I thinking?  What am I feeling?  What am I doing?  Where is that coming from?  Why?  Could it possibly be as simple as the age old imagery of an angel whispering in one ear, and a devil whispering in the other?  A good voice, a bad voice.  Could we possibly just find ourselves caught in between?

One can do a simple exercise of self talk.  Imagine in your mind there is you, an angel, and a devil.  They can look like and be dressed however you want.  At first, you won’t be able to see them or recognize them because their voices are disguised as your voice in your mind.  The angel, and the devil, can make you think and feel anything they want.  They both have fair play.  The name of the game is recognition.

What would the angel voice tell you?  What would the devil voice tell you?  What is YOUR VOICE saying inside?  Just as a friend would tell you “Just be patient, it will all work out,” so too do we repeat in our minds what our friend says.  “Yes, I just need to be patient and it will all work out.”  I would say that friend is being an angel in your life.  Why is it any different within your consciousness field?

Now, in contrast, a family member says to you, “You’re a loser!  Get with the program!.”  What happens?  For some, they take that to heart, they hear that voice of that family member and will say to themselves, “Maybe I am a loser.  I have no program.”  This they can repeat to themselves within their own consciousness bringing about further negative thoughts, emotions, and actions.  But is it truth?

Hearing these things from others can be inspirational, or damaging.  But what matters is what resides within our consciousness.  Do we take the inspiration or the damage within us and allow it to run through our minds and emotions?   If external sources of inspiration and damage were eliminated, at least for a period of time, what could we observe within our conscious mind and emotional fields?  This is where meditation comes in.  Closing ones eyes and observing their own sources of positive and negative thought and emotion…….feeling and hearing within.  This is where recognition begins.

Any negative thought or feeling that enters one’s consciousness fields, one has to simply ask, “Where does that come from?”  Any positive thought or feeling that enters one’s consciousness fields, one has to simply as, “Where is that coming from?”  “Why am I thinking that?”  “Why am I feeling that?”  The answer to the source of those questions lies not in what is in the external world, but what has yet to be discovered within one’s own inner world.  Just as when one introduces themselves to someone new, a simple “Hello” will suffice.  That begins a relationship of any kind, be it an external relationship, or an inner relationship.

“Forgive them Father, for they know not what they do.”  The mystery behind that statement lies not in any book on Earth, or from any guru of any type.  The answer lies within and it is available to all.  No tuition required, no advanced degrees of any kind, no expert or guru to lead you, just a little trust and faith which leads to love, light, and something most spectacular.  As they say, “Stop and smell the roses.”  When we do, an angel and a devil follow as well.  Which do we listen to?  Recognizing the good and the bad within our own consciousness fields takes time, patience, trust, and faith.  Love is always the correct lighthouse.

When we come to realize this, we can begin to see that others as well are affected in this manner.  They are not aware.  There are those of you out there who are aware.  Compassion is always the end result in this realization.  For when we understand and become aware of our own inner landscape, our questions of “Why am I thinking, feeling, and doing that?” become answers to “Why are they thinking, feeling, and doing that?”

Control is to be realized.  What kind of control structures can you name in this world?  The external ones are many.  What about the internal control structures that exists within the human being that are of yet to be fully explained?  How can one answer that?  The true answer lies not in a vision from within this world called Earth, but from a lens that lies far beyond our imaginations.  A simple angel, a simple devil.  Who created that?
